I recently received a call from a buyer who wanted to move back to Florida, and little did I know that this buyer was a family that I had known for over 48 years.

The Beginning of a Lifelong Friendship

It all started back in 1974 when my mom Kathy met another mom named Edith through Boy Scouts. Edith had a son named Mark who was the same age as me. Mark and I became great friends at the age of 9, and our friendship lasted all the way through our first year of junior college. While I left college and went straight into real estate, Mark continued his education and eventually became a math teacher.

A Bond Like Family

Throughout the years, our families became intertwined. My mom remarried, and Edith was her maid of honor. I went to Mark's Bar Mitzvah, and our families even celebrated Hanukkah together. Edith told my mom about a job opening at St. Luke's Eye Clinic where they both worked together for 10 years. The bond between the two families was unbreakable, and we had become like family to each other.

Finding the Perfect Home

So when Mark's sister Lori wanted to move back to Florida so that the entire family could be together again, I knew I had to find the perfect home for them. Edith was now 87 years old and living with her daughter Lori, and they needed a home that would accommodate their multi-generational family.

I spent several weeks emailing property listings, making calls, and showing homes to Lori via Facetime. And finally, I found the perfect home in Springhill. It was a brand new one-story home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a three-car garage. But the best part was that the floor plan offered a second living room attached to an en-suite, perfect for Edith.

A Home Run for the Family

When I presented the home to Lori and her family, they knew it was the one. It was a home run for this amazing family, and I was beyond thrilled to have been a part of it. The closing was emotional as we reminisced about the memories we had made over the past 48 years. It was a reminder of how much a simple connection can grow and develop over time, and the impact it can have on people's lives.
